do I need to rustproof my 1995 960? 900 1995

I recently bought a '95 960 wagon in Alabama and brought home to Wisconsin.Obviously, there is no rust on it now. Does anyone know if I should have my Volvo mechanic rustproof the car? Are all the Volvos shipped to US with the same rust inhibitor and is it adequate for this model? The car does not have heated seats, I was told, because it didn't need them in the South. That made me wonder if it also wasn't given any rust protection by the manufacturer for the same reason.I have a Nov. 1 appointment where I could get a rust proofer applied, I just don't know if it's necessary. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Jim
