Follow-up on 'What is this hose?' 200 1989

Car is an 89 245

In a recent post I inquired about this particular hose in the engine bay that apparently was broken. Well, it turns out it may be the defroster hose. It's the thin hose with one end attached to a thin metal pipe, which is attached to a bigger rubber hose and connects to the engine (near the throttle). The other end feeds into this circular rubber thing on the passenger-side firewall. I guess it connects to something inside the dash. The hose is broken at the firewall connection; there is only about 1 inch of hose sticking out of the firewall. I reconnected the hose that is attached to the engine with the hose coming from the firewall using a 1.5 inch hose with a .25 diameter hole. The defroster hose fit snugly inside the bigger hose :) (I'm such a genius sometimes! hehe) Well, here's my worry. I was able to plug the defroster hose (engine) to the bigger hose with ease. However, the defroster hose from the firewall was a little more difficult because there was only i inch of hose sticking out. I had to pull on it so I could attach it to the other end of the bigger hose. My question is where does the firewall-end defroster hose go to? And what does it attach to? I'm afraid I might have pulled on it too much that I may have disconnected it from it's attachment. Is there a way I can look, like by means of opening the glove compartment?

I think I did a nice job of connecting the two broken ends of the defroster hose inside the engine bay. But now it may all seem fruitless if I had disconnected one end of the defroster hose somewhere inside the dash :( If I have and ther is no way I can access it, will it cause any MAJOR problems. If it's just not having windshield defoster, I can live with that. But I hope it has nothing to do with the heater core or anything that may cause leaks or erratic heating/AC functions. Thanks guys!
