Brake Failure Light - 1988 240 Station Wagon 200

I've changed the front disk pads without removing the filler cap from the master cylinder.

The brake failure light now appears during driving. Whilst there are no leakages in the system, the brakes do not take immediately and requires a pumping action to stop. Previously the brakes were outstanding and could stop the car with a light touch.

The vacuum hose from the brake booster was also narrowed at the bend which is connected to the intake on the manifold and I opened it by cutting the front piece off to allow freer suction.

Could anyone advise whether the car would require a new booster, master cylinder, junction block?

Any assistance will really be appreciated.
