opinions on 87 744Ti thinking of buying 700

Hello all.
I'm thinking of purchasing an 87 744Ti M46 160k miles for $1300 (for my fiancee). It runs great, seems to have a strong turbo, doesn't smoke at all, shifts ok. It has a 4 spd manual w/od, I assume that's an m46. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it has a cheasy aftermarket riceboy style 'sport' steering wheel. Which means that it has probably been driven hard. I don't know maintenance history or anything of previous owner. I don't know if it's the original turbo or not. I only know that it was traded in to a chevy dealer. I don't know if the a/c works. Is this a deal assuming the a/c works and everything works ok? I didn't look at it too hard but am thinking of driving down and looking again. It's in Park Hills MO(a little redneck town 60 miles South of St. Louis. They can't even pronounce volvo down there). For some reason a small car dealer in Park Hills bought it in St. Louis and is trying to sell it in park hills. There are NO volvos down there, I think that's kind of strange. Why would he buy this car in St. Louis and try to sell it where it has less value? I like the car It's kinda quick. I like the crank sunroof also.

Just looking for opinions.
What type of problems should I look for?
Is this a good deal?

thanks - Nate
