Slipping Auto Trans on hills 1991 740 wagon. 700

Did you drive it yourself to gather information on the symptoms.
Could it be nothing more than a normal downshift to 3rd from 4th as you step on the gas for the hill. There are things outside the tranny that can cause premature downshifting. When and how does the "slippage" occur, speed, gear etc?
It is unlikely (although possible)that the AW tranny in your car is slipping, it is regarded as bulletproof.
