Are 240 turbo mirrors supposed to pivot? 200

I am just wondering if the mirrors are supposed to be spring loaded so they move if they hit something. From the Bentley it looks like they have a pivot, but mine are like a rock. If there is a pivot has anyone had any luck unseizing it? I can't even figure out how to get the glass/motors out without destroying them. The glue holding on the mirror is so strong the glass chips when you pry it off. And even if you do get it off the backing plate is in the way of the screws holding the motors on. And you can't take the backing plate off without destroying the tabs that attach it to the motors. They seem to have made these stupid things so you can't service them. Thats very un-Volvo like.
