Steering rack replacement 200 1985

I replaced the ZF power steering rack on my 85 245 with a rebuilt from MAVEL.
Everything fit exact, except! The old rack had a groove machined around the splined input shaft which allowed the pinch bolt on the yoke to go through.
The new rack only has a machined flat on the shaft. I had to rotate the steering column shaft to align the flat and the pinch bolt. Now the steering wheel is 90 degrees off. Question? can I just remove the steering wheel and replace it correctly or are there other complications to this line of thought?
