Bad wire to rear electric window - best replacement strategy? 200 1986

hey folks,

got a bad wire running through my back left door to my electric window regulator (goes down ... doesn't go back up until I jiggle the wire).

is it easier to splice in new wire and leave the connectors intact or to replace the wire all the way in each connector somehow leaving the other two good wires intact?

while we're on the subject .. I have heavier gauge wire than the original ... would it mess up the circuit to use a different gauge wire in that part of the circuit?

thanks,

it's getting cold here in Columbus and sooner or later one of the kids is gonna open that window ... then after the initial blast find out he's in for a long cold ride!

perhaps suitable discipline for him or her but NOT for the rest of the folks in the car!
