How to test the ecu temp. sensor, the location, the symptoms, start-stall-start stall? 200 1987

I am one of the many bricksters that have posted the dreaded start-stall-start-stall, then run like crap for a couple hundred yards then clear out and run fine problem in the last six months. Now that the temperature here in Cincinnati has dropped to around 35 degrees, it won't even run. It will do the start-stall thing but, now it won't stay running. I have tried all the great suggestions that I have gotten on the board to no avail. I am thinking about replacing the ecu temp. sensor, because the problem seems to get worse with the colder weather. Any suggestions?
