How do I fix front door hinges(rust) 200 1981

Hi, here is my problem.

This 240-1981 with 468k kilometers was maintained quite well because it has original paint and no apparent corrosion holes. On top of that never was involved in accident. It has had more than ten grease anti-rust treatments.

For some reasons it shows severe corrosion at the door hinges where it attaches to the body. I beleive it could be due to a sunroof or a windshield leak. It seems to have corroded from the inside. Both front doors are a little loose and I am afraid a gust of wind coming from the back may tear them off.

My son want to keep that car very much; since mechanic is in good condition it may be worth investing in it. I though that mig welding a 6x20 inch 16ga piece of sheetmetal over the actual corroded section could solve that problem.

What have you people done to fix this problem?
