How ro reattach clear plastic lenses? What holds them on? 200 1993

Took off the clear plastic lenses on my 93 to better aim the headlights - works much metter that way as you get a more focused beam. They practically fell off - no screws/attachments/etc., only a metal flap that presses against them next to the grill. Never did this before and don't know how they are supposed to be attached. They don't feel very solid once they're back on. There appears to be the remnants of some sort of gasket. How should I reattach the lenses? RTV? Thanks.
