Timing gear question 120-130

"The only 164s that had steel gears stock were the 164 TEs from 1975..."

Hmm. Perhaps the steel gears were a preferred replacement once the original fiber gear failed on the B30. I've seen the steel gear used on a number of 164s -- and also a number of B20s, including several of mine. In fact, I have an unused B20 in the garage that sports a set of steel gears...

...and are as noisy as the fiber gears..."

Now, wait a minute! The fiber gear is quiet, and the steel gear has a satisfying mechanical whine. Hell, the sound itself is worth the purchase price!
