760 airbox update 700

After tinkering with some other options I finally just drilled four screws into the top of my airbox and secured them with little nuts like sargent suggested. Also while I was at it I replaced the missing bent tail piece at the very end of the exhaust. Took the car out for a spin and nothing bad happened so I put my foot into it a little and as soon as the turbo comes on it seems as though I have about 15 more horses. Is this possible by just tightening the air box better ? Does the bent tailpiece at the end serve any purpose other than an aesthetic one ? Thanks for all your ideas !
