Youd don't have a little black box with a wire hanging out on the driver side strut brace? You should. I think they started that in 87 and continued on everything RWD till 94. Mine is also a 90 16v 745 149k and it has one. I'll try to keep watching this post

Take the cover off, put the wire in socket 2 and hold the button down for 1 sec. with key on ( I think that's right) you can't hurt anything it only does diagnostic functions.
