242Ti on road again!!! Lost vacuum after removing intake mani, replacing vacuum hoses

hey
it is very nice to have my 242Ti back on the road again!

I have a strange dilemma. I removed my intake manifold to replace the thermal time switch, in hopes of fixing my warm starting problem, which it appears that it has :) I was going to upgrade intake manifolds to the B230 (EFI) style but that didnt happen.

I replaced the intake manifold gasket, and all the vacuum lines with hose clamps. Strange thing is, I LOST vacuum. It idles @ almost 16 cold (engine), and 20 warm. Where it used to idle @ 18 cold, and 22 warm. It pulls less decelerating too 24 versus 26 or more before. It also used to take around 12" to cruise around @ 55mph, not it takes 10".

The counter to this, is it idles much better does not cough or sound like it was missing like it used to. Which makes me think I dont have a vacuum leak.

I couldnt find torque specs for the intake manifold bolts, so I snugged them up.

does the fuel system need to be tuned to match this?

any ideas welcome.

thanks in advance
take care
