Ride too harsh for toting family on choppy ATL roads - need advice (765.0) 700 1988

My 1988 760 w/ Ford 5.0 & AOD has Boge Turbo Gas shocks all around, and diesel springs at each corner too. Also has ipd 1 in. sway bar front & rear. Wheels are Volvo 15 x 6.5 from '95 960 wagon, just accomodating the ABS calipers, shod with Michelin X-1s.

Car rides too harshly on the under-repaired roads here in Atlanta. I was thinking of going back to Sachs/Boge original shocks as the most effective way of smoothing things out. Am I correct in this thinking, or is there a better way to get the ride closer to stock?

(Yes, I know that I'll give up some handling in the switch - oh well...)

Thanks in advance. -Boozer
