Scared to dismantle instrument panel!! 700 1989

The clock adjustment gear stripped and it stopped being able to be adjusted. I just got a good used clock to replace it..but I took out the instrument panel and it looked horribly complicated (not like the 240's). Put it back. Am I being a chicken? Does a VolvoGuy who is not afraid to use the BFH on his car but is afraid to diamantle the instrument panel qualify for some sort of prize?
Anyone replaced their clock before?? Any tricks?
Thanks,
el Raidman
