Flame Trap Oil & Gases Flow? 700 1985

Bricksters .... Puzzle me these 2 ?'s
If my flame trap ( the little round disc with the holes in it) gets clogged and the hose to the manifold was clogged as well would that mean that the breather box is clear? Which way do the deposits flow? I don't want to change/clean the breather box unless I have to. Just seems like a nasty job.
I've replaced all hoses and pieces to flame trap and my idle has risen to about 900 from 750 rpm's ( there was a slight crack in the manifold hose)is this normal? or could it be some idle adjustment thing when the weather gets colder?
My car has never jumped to 1500 to 1800 rpms on cold winter startups like most other cars do. What could be the problem?

thanks
Mark
