91 740 Regina Computer Failure 700 1991

I need help. My first volvo. I have a 91 740 145,000 on speedometer; with 2.3l (B230F)and Regina/Rex-1.
Problem 1: Speedometer goes to 80 mph when ignition switch is on (car running or not.) This seems like a constant voltage signal? At times it will go to actual speed and odometer will then work also. Odometer does not turn when speedo is at 80. Diagnostic code from under hood reveals "No speedometer signal"
Problem 2: Car ran for 2 weeks, about 50 miles total then one day it backfired during attempt to start, idled very rough. After 2-3 minutes it seemed fine, drove it about 10 miles and shut it off. 15 minutes later I got 5 miles and it died, unable to restart (acted like no fuel or no spark.)
Towed home. Changed spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor and plug wires. Coil wire in "set" wasn't long enough so did not change it. After tune-up, it started up in driveway fine, ran for 5 minutes so I took it for test drive. Srove 2 miles in town, about 5 on highway, back into town and it died at stoplight. Would not refire. Only diagnostic code is no speedometer signal, have had 2 bulbs burn out during this time (headlight and tail light.)
Looking for advice - guidance so I can enjoy my car again!
