Temp Gauge not registering 700 1988


As stated in a previous post, check the Water Tempeature Sender located under the 1/2 injectors. Your 1988 uses the one pictured at the bottom of this post.

I would trace the wires to see if they have corroded or broken, paying particular attention to the ground if you see absolutely no activity on the dash gauge (I think it ground on the top of teh intake manifold... at least the 1985 does). Also, check any relevant fuses that might be involved, and make sure the contacts on the back of the gauge are tight.

If you've installed a new one on your new/used engine and it still isn't working the dash gauge might be dead. Get a new one off a junker for replacement.

As for buying a new Sender, I would recommend you visit http://www.importeccatalog.com. They sell all the parts cheap, and have the two wire sender for your brick for $19.74 (it's under Body Electrical).
