If I understand you correctly, sparking/exploding is occuring when touching the switch housing(s) to the dashboard...this does suggest a faulty switch, but one has to seriously doubt that you'd get three with the same problem.

First, you MUST make sure you are wiring the replacement switches correctly. Then, and BEFORE allowing the mounting bushing to contact the metal dashboard, check for voltage from the switch housing to the dashboard with a meter or test lamp. If you detect voltage, DO nOT PROCEED, but remove one wire at a time until the voltage is no longer detected and repost details.

Another (more probable) possiblility is that there is a short to chassis on one of the lighting circuits supplied by the switch. To locate a test lamp is required. Connect testlamp IN SERIES with (heavy) black power lead of terminal 30 of switch, connecting all other wires normally, if this lamp lights (full) immediately or when switch is turned on to one of the ON positions, a short to ground on one of the circuits is confirmed...remove one wire at a time to determine what circuit it's on.
