'92's klunky wipers, noisy 200

All,

The wipers on my wife's '92 make a lot of muffled klunking noise, they work and seem to have appropriate speed but are annoying to use; removing the glove box and watching it work, I can't see anything that sticks out as being wrong...My '84's wipers are just silent. Any tips on general wiper maint./lubrication would be cool too.
