Power Window Problem 200 1990

If it turns out to not be the switch, check out the following possibility.

Part #1 - On my 90 244DL my problem started with the driver's side window make lots of noise, especially near the bottom (mainly) and top of its travel. Sounded like it was going to break anytime. I took the panel off (be careful with this if you haven't done it before - the door handle needs to swing about 90 degrees to get it in and out) and greased everything I thought needed it, and put it all back together.

Part #2 - Noise problem solved, I thought....Months later the noise came back some and the window started to tilt forward a little at the top of its run. Took it all apart again! Needless to say - very frustating!!! This time I watched the window go up and down in its channel. PAY PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THIS PART - noticed that in the approximate middle of the window that a pivot point that slides along channel-type retainer was cockeyed and out of the channel. Unfortunately, the piece was somewhat damaged and I was only able to make a partial repair w/o taking a section of the mechanism/frame out of the car altogether and replacing the damaged pivot or whatever it is called...

Part #3 - After said repair, greased everything well and slapped it back together. Decided to live with a slight tilt but the noise is gone. If that pivot point ever breaks then I will replace it, but I don't look forward to taking apart the window mechanism!!!

My point is that perhaps the pivot is damaged on your car and is causing the window to hang up and stay stuck. Might be worth checking out as we both have 1990's and the parts and or weakness of the mechanism might be the same.

Good luck,

Jim 1990 244DL 208K "The Swedish Tank"
