How much of a DIYer is a paint job?

Don't know if this will help-
I'm a cheapskate, so here are two cheap-o but usually good options:
1. My father has a detailing biz (not near you), and he commonly will do paint for dealers to match the original. He's got tricks to match the color including the aging- matched the #91 light green (celery) on my 122s perfectly. I think that to paint a hood and maybe touch up a few other places would be cheaper than doing the entire car yourself. Lots of these guy out there- maybe ask a smaller dealer? (My dad's company is MARS International)
2. Check with your school system to see if they've got a vocational-technical program. Often you can get a car painted dirt cheap by a student who is trying to get a good grade in the auto shop. I've seen some good work, and often the students work at the paint shop you'd pay big bucks anyway. Often you can get a $3.00 haircut from the beauty school while the car is in the auto shop...
Good luck
Kevin
Oh, Sherwin Williams has every paint code in history. Check their website for Sherwin Williams automotive locations. They can give you factory spec colors as long as you know your own code. Houshold s-w stores will look at you like you are nuts- be sure to call an automotive location.
