Engine Switch 200 1988

The engine in the 1982 should be a B21F, and the 1988 a B230F. In between, the 1983 1984 engine is a B23F. I think that the B21F won't run in the B230F body due to not only a big change in engine front pulley, power steering pump and a/c compressor layout, but the fuel injection management of the 1988 won't find the proper injector layout and other engine sensors.

The B23F and B230F use the same head gasket and a very similar fuel management system, so that might work. There would still be the engine front pulley and accessories belts problems to work out.

Others may answer with more accurate information.

Good Luck,

Bob

PS When you say the engine blew, was it a rod out the block? Serious overheating and head damage, or what?
