worn Bosch starter 1800 1972

Most of the wearing parts are replaceable. I have a pool of 3 starters
that I use on my 122, 164 and potentially on my 145 (the yellow peril)
and Susan's 245. The biggest problem has been arced solenoid contacts,
some of which I have built up with silver braze alloy. I've replaced a
couple windings, numerous brushes and very few bushings. As long as the
windings aren't burned on the rotor you are OK.
BTW I have been using the same starters for about 30 years.
