Cold start, then dies, won't idle 700

Yes I have looked at the FAQ. Car is a 86 760 T w/ 160K miles, rebuilt engine. Here are the symptoms. Car ran fine yesterday, today go out to start it, Minneapolis, 20 F,and it will start and rev with foot on pedal, but won't idle. Wiggled AFM connector but no help, then disconnected AFM and car does not run at all. So my question is, does this sound like a cold start injector--I will let car warm up tonight and see if it stays running--Could it be the throttle position sensor, according to the FAQ it does not sound like it. Or could it be a dying AFM. I appreciate any help because I hate diagnosing engine problems. I would rather change a ball joint!
