Hey all,
I posted a question about this problem in this previous thread:
http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=537530
I finally got a chance to take a look at my friend's car and found out that the 30 amp fuse for the blower motor will blow as soon as the fan switch is put in the high setting (setting # 5). A local Volvo shop told her that it was a "faulty climate control unit" (I think that's what she told me) causing the fuse to blow. They quoted her almost $600 just for that replacement part.
I found a wiring diagram for the heater system in a Mitchell repair manual. There is a "LH-Jetronic 2.4 (MFI) System Control Module" listed on the diagram as well as the "A/C Controls". Does anyone know what that jetronic control module does? Is this the part the shop might be talking about? I'm waiting to talk to them about more details.
I was hoping the problem was just a bad resistor pack because the fan started going bad by only working in the high setting (thus, not using the resistor?) Now, however, the fuse will only blow once the fan switch is set to 5.
If anyone has any ideas what the problem is, I'd sure appreciate the input. Also, I looked under the dash and could see where the blower motor housing is, but I have no idea how to identify the resistor pack to try and troubleshoot if that is the problem. Any hints as to how to identify it?
Thanks in advance,
Alan
