Rattle Driving Us Nuts 200 1993

Our 1993 240 Wagon has 204K but is in great shape. This rattle comes from somewhere in the rear seat or way-back area. We have had all of the rear bushings replaced a new exhaust system and even a new rear valance. The mechanic has removed the seats, emptied the spare tire well and rode around in the back with his ear to the floor. He's still not certain but thinks it may be the emergency brake cable knocking against the tube or channel that it passes through. Has anyone out there had this rattle and found the cause and the cure? Sure would appreciate your help with this one.
Thanks,
Remi
