Sagging Back End...... 200 1991

The back end of my 91' 240 with 202K miles seems to be getting progressivly closer to the ground. Almost every time I go over a bump, especially when carrying lots of people or stuff in the back seat, I hear an awful scraping noise as something bottoms out. How do I tell if this is the shock absorbers, or the coil spring? Are there any other parts under there that could be causing this? If it is the shocks, can I get some opinions on the best type/brand to install (I can't afford Blistiens). Any help is greatly appriciated.
