150 miles from home...need advice PLEASE....760 '87 700 1987

Someone i used to call my friend took my car off road to be "funny" and now i'm 3 hours from home and my car is making an awful metallic knocking sound coming from under the gearshift. It's an automatic. The sound starts when the car starts moving and once i get up to around 25 doesn't really get any faster than about 10 knocks per second and seems to quite down when accelerating. Is there anything i can do to fix it or prevent any serious damage.

THANKS FOR ANY HELP,

Tom
