Fan clutch going out?

Changed the knock sensor(removed the temp sensor for better access). Replaced the lost coolant, now it seems the temp is higher(about 9:30 on the gauge). Spun the fan blades after warmup,no resistance. Does this mean the clutch is going out? Want to get an elec. fan from the boneyard, but not sure how to wire it up. I've seen the pages on the conversion but unsure of wiring. What to do?
