automatic tranny overdrive!!! 200 1989

my 89 240's overdrive turns on completely randomly. like reallly really randomly. it seems to be a little bit more when wet out, but maybe not... and once it turns on the switch (on the gear selector knob) only works really intermittently to turn it off. so it is stuck on (it's not a bad switch, i promise) so yeah, it is pissing me off, cuz sometimes it'll be stuck on for a long time, killing my gas mileage, and making icky engine braking.
