is the main fuel pump supposed to 'whirl' or 'click' ???

From what i have read and heard the intake fuel pump should not cause a no start problem but it is possible and again this is just what i have read and make sense out of if i am incorrect someone will correct me im sure of it, though if you jumpped the pumps without the car running your not going to get a good diag out of it because the gas isnt actually flowing through it, heres a tip to try with the car running take a screw driver long or a piece of tube and put it on the fuel pump it will mag the sound to where you can hear it so youll know if its truly making any sounds at all it works great on engine componants to.
