loose ground straps behind head on B230

Good move on the position sensor. They have a variety of ways to go "bad".

Be extremely careful removing that sensor. The flimsy metal bracket in which it sits, is easily fractured. Replacement of that bracket is very easy... once the transmission is taken out of the car. I'm sure you probably already read some of the archived posts on that, but trust me when I say it is VERY fragile.

if the sensor is stuck, spray it with penetrant (if the car is an automatic). I'm sure you've messed with these before with all the maintenance you do to your cars, but just a brief reminder because it is SUCH a horrible headache if that bracket breaks.
