I put about 10 - 15,000 miles a year on my 544. Its a 'fair weather' daily driver. If its is percipitating (or especially if there is or was salt on the roads!) it stays in the garage, and I drive my '95 Jetta. Also, on the hottest days the heat and humidity and stop-n-go traffic reduces its appeal somewhat, and I'll take the Jetta with its A/C. And despite putting an OD tranny in it the VR6 equipped long legged Jetta is still much faster, quieter, etc for long trips.
