Feels like...loose steering

How is your alignment?

If it is not the alignment, then I agree with Pierre - check your ball joints. Your car has enough miles now that the ball joints or tie rods might be loose. Rack is a possibility but that usually goes bad at higher miles. I replaced my rack on my 1990 244 at around 185K. Did the ball joints and outer tie rods at the same time. Outside possibility is a bad universal joint in the steering column. Just had to replace the lower one recently (there are 2).

Good luck!
