Daily Drivers

I have had my '66 122 for 6 months & have used it as my daily transportation most of that time. The only hiatus was the 1 month it took me to remove the original B18 (with 215K miles & a blown cyinder #3) & replace it with a rebuilt B18 (with 15K + overdrive!). A process which is still not 100% complete, due to the problems getting the new exhaust header pipe to mate up with the old muffler. So even though it is a bit too loud right now, (a new muffler & resonator are on the way to make everything right this week-end) I drive it everyday.

In 5 months of use, I have put over 6,000 mils on it. About 4,000 of those miles have been work related & therefore re-imbursed by my organization @ $0.36/mile (which has more than paid for new the engine+OD, exhaust, alternator conversion, etc ...) !!

In all those miles, it has never left me completely stranded (though there have been a couple frustrating near misses - but HEY, that's what makes life interesting & why I always have a tool-box in the trunk)

As back-up vehicles, I have an '84 244 w/235K & my wife drives an '84 245 w/155K
