OIL TEMP SENDER LOCATION OTHER THAN DRAIN PLUG ?

Thanks for the responses.

The idea of monitoring the sump temp to make sure the oil is warm enough on the B230 to drive hard is a good idea. Otherwise it just acts as a backup gauhe to the water temp gauge.
Hey, sometimes redundancy saves both engines and lives.

The oil temp gauge on the VW is a completely different story.
On my 66 Bus I had a nice temp sensor from Gene Berg that threaded into the blank plate on the right side of the later type 1 block. This hooked up to a big red light on the dashboard. If the light comes on you're runnin hot! It gets your attention that way.
BTW - VW bus notes, fiberglass side scoops rock! Aftermarket coolers behind the fan just make it worse!

I'd love to be able to tap into the B230 oil pan somewhere instead of using the drain plug sensor.

Anyone know the Volvo part number for that sensor?
