starts cold, trouble starting from then on... plus one more Q? 200

thank you up front to any knowledgeable responders!

We have a 1991 245 that loves to start right up cold. From then on you have to give her a little throttle (its a she) to roar to life. What do you think? I've heard things about cracked plastic fuel pickup line inside gas tank, or even bad fuel pump or relay, but why would it start easy on the first start of the day and not any other times?

another question, this time about front suspension, she likes to give a sharp 'pop' when wheel is cranked all the way to the left or right--have to do it to navagate our driveway. sound like front struts moving perhaps, or what else, tie rod ends? Just had struts replaced along with control arm bushings.
