What kind of transmission do you have?

Depending on the transmission it could theoretically be: orange or white (auto) or blue or red (manual). However since you've got an 83, it should be orange (auto) or blue (manual). If you had an 85 or newer you would (should) have a white or red relay.

The auto an manual relays will swap right in and work as they are supposed to... which in reality means nasty things for a manual tranny running the auto relay (if you're not careful), and a non functioning OD on an auto (no 4th gear switch). I believe that the old and new styles will also swap in directly, but just not function.

There should only be one relay right behind the glove box, and that's the overdrive relay.

If you want to read the Volvo part numbers off the relays you found, we can identify them for you.
