Advice sought before B23E block goes in...

Sounds like you have a fun project going. Just a quick question: what type of fuel are you going to use? I would imagine without modern ignition (ie. knock sensor) a compression ratio of 11:1 would be too much for 92AKI gas. This is the highest we get in Alberta, perhaps in Quebec you have access to higher quality fuels. Another point is the quench area in the combustion chamber; if this is reduced (via reshaping the combustion chamber) then the intake charge will have less "swirl" and the burn quality will be reduced. The effect of this is your engine will be less tolerant toward pinging.
My dad raced an MGB with an 11:1 compression ratio and used 50% 92 octane and 50% race gas (~103octane). Octane booster and/or race gas is pretty expensive.

good luck
