Undercarriage Rust

Ok, I followed this thread to the picture you posted. What you are looking is
your floorpan is completely gone and the metal that looks good is the galvanized
foot liner that is supposed to cover the real floor. Which is no longer there according to that photo. If the rocker is still good you can weld in a new piece of floor pan. The more affordable alternatives really won't work here because the replacement floor will need brackets welded to it so the new floor can attach to the rocker. You will need similiar brackets welded to the inside part of the floor that meets up to the trans tunnel. This is an area of the car where the wiring harness passes through as you can see in the picture. Be very careful not to damage it when you repair the floor. I've done this a couple of times and
it's a big job but not outrageous. Depends on the rest of the car whether it's
worth it or not.

Are you near Phila? I would be willing to inspect the car if you don't have a Volvo experienced person to look at it. If the car is really bad it's better to
get another one. Fortunately there are still a few out there.
