OEM Armrest Cupholder Differences 700 1990

I have a 90 740 and was wondering about cupholders. I just ordered an armrest from ebay and the description was for a leather one. OK all well and good. My friend has a 90 as well but his seems bigger and is like a soft plastic vinyl one. Was the leather one an upgrade for the armrest or will this armrest not fit the 90?
