Is rod knock likely at 106K?

Alrighty, in my insane quest for a new Volvo I have come across a nice (seemingly) 1992 740 Turbo wagon. The only problem the owner (dealer) states that it has knock. Is this likely to be the dreaded rod knock at 106,000. How much of a PITA would be replacing the connecting rods? What would be a fair price if this was the case? I am very sick of looking for a car! The alternative is one 200 miles away.
