Well, there are a couple of things I can guess at, but I am going to go with something I saw once on a VW, which had an odd intermeittent buck.
This sounds like for a few seconds, the car isn't getting enough fuel. I amgoing to recomend looking for vacuum leaks in very sensitive places, sucha s the intake hose after the AMM. The VW would buck and snort backing up, but alsmot never going foward. This was due to the fact that the car was at a differnt angle and torqu when backing, and a slmall crack in the intake opened, letting in air. So you may have a tiny little crack that gets opened just enough to cause a buck or two.The points wher the idle hose connects are very sensitive spots, so I'de start there.
The other aspect is one of the fuel pumps may be on the way out, and the fuel pressure get a little awry when gearing down.Check the pressure regulator as well, since the little puck may have a tiny hole in the diaghram, and it can't hold the pressure needed at the higher revs. The engine system is actually designed to stop injecting fuel when the car is being slowed through the gears. Little blits of fuel may be able to escape the pressure regulator and make it buck.
Chekc all the routine things as well, such as corrosison on any sorts of FI points.
