Passenger side power window dies...along with car 700 1988

Hello all-

I have a 1988 740GLE and while driving out of my neighborhood, following my mom, I needed to tell her that she didn't have her lights on (it was really foggy.) I pulled up next to her and tried to roll down the passenger side window, but when I pushed my remote button, nothing would happen. Having experienced this before, I leaned over and pushed the button on the passenger side door. The window rolled down just fine. However, when I tried to roll it back up, nothing at all happened. I tried and tried, but nothing would happen. The window would go down more, but not up. Since it was kinda cold out, I turned around and headed back home to park my car in the garage, and get into my mom's car (my mom was driving my dad's SUV.)

When I got back home, my mom had apparently tried to roll the window up and start the car. Funny thing is, now the car wouldn't start! Isn't this a little strange? Has anybody experienced the same problem? Any possible solutions?
