Broken Diff Solved 140-160

I experienced both rear wheels locking up suddenly a few weeks back. I couldn't beleive that a Volvo diff could break with a 2.0L motor, but anyway, it happend.

I opened it up today and had a good look, the shaft for one of the spider gears (small gears in diff, not main gears) had elongated the hole it sits in.......by twice it's length!!!

I don't understand how this could've happend, it didn't make any noises or do anything strange before it broke.

Just lucky?
I'll post pics when I develop the film.
