electric fan mod dangerous?

Volvo did put electric pusher fans on the last of the 240T, and on many other 240 from about that point on, as well as on some earlier cars. By the early 90s, Volvo was using electric puller fans as primary fans on 940s. If you have fuel spraying around under the hood, I would say you are looking for trouble whether you have an electric fan or not. There are hot exhaust pipes under the hood as well as other electrical things like the battery, starter motor, and alternator. Wired poorly, however, an electric fan is another opportunity for a short. But that you can only blame on yourself. Just remember that it can be done properly. As long as your car is well maintained, there should be no problems. If you have leaky fuel lines and stuff like that, you should be giving them your attention rather than spending time and or money replacing the fan clutch with an electric fan.
