Welcome to the club of 960/S90 owners with failed PNP switch! What is the mileage of your 960? As previous posts suggested, the most likely cause of your symptoms is the gear position sensor (a.k.a. PNP switch). Do you have the Check Engine light on yet? Check the DTC code to make sure this is caused by the PNP switch. If confirmed, simply replace it. The first failure usually occurs between 50K - 100K and is often triggered by the change to colder outside temeperatures. (Don't know why)
